Football Sponsorship...from team coach.
" I am really grateful to Murray and Willis for their support this season.
They have kindly sponsored both a playing kit and a training kit
together with rain tops and track suit trousers for the whole squad.
As a result the boys turn out looking and feeling really good and
feeling part of a well run and coordinated unit.

From a football perspective the 2009/2010 season has been a
great success. Playing a year above them and at 11-a-side for the
first time the boys have played some wonderful football throughout.
Importantly also they have played fairly and with a great deal of
respect. In the end they lost only one league game all season and
finished as runners-up in the league only losing out on goal
difference despite conceding the lowest number of goals. The
team also made it through to the League Cup Semi-finals beating
teams a year older than themselves throughout the competition. Although they lost in the first round of the South Staffs Cup they did so against older opposition and only 2-1 after extra time. Most of their games including friendlies have been against older opposition and they have acquitted themselves admirably and gained many plaudits from all over including professional clubs who continue to monitor their progress.

All in all the boys in the team are a great credit to themselves, their parents and their club. It has been a fantastic start to 11-a-side and a stunning transition from mini football where they also enjoyed great success. We are grateful to Murray and Willis for their support and in helping us all turn out looking good and feeling great in our team colours both for games and training as well."

Everest Base Camp Trek
Everest Base Camp Trek……..IN AID OF: Hawthorn Crescent -
League of Friends & Cherish Uganda

Steve Sutton has recently returned from The Himalayas where he
managed to reach the top of Kala Pattar at 5550M.  The trek started
with an early morning light aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.
From here onwards it was a 100 mile walk to base camp and back
to Lukla, passing through high mountain villages. The highlight of
the trek for Steve was on the 9th day from Labouche (4900M) to
Kala Pattar (5550M).

We started out at 3am and the crystal clear moonless sky was
awash with billions upon billions of stars. The only visible light
came from the head torches that we were all wearing and there
wasn’t a single sound to break the silence apart from one of our
guides Buddhist chanting.  After breakfast at 6am at Gorak Shep
(5100M) we made the final push to the top of Kala Pattar” Steve said.

Throughout the year Steve has raised funds for Hawthorns Resource Centre in Burton upon Trent & for Cherish Uganda, so far raising £1000 by auctioning off items that have very kindly been donated by local companies along with selling items at a local car boot sale.

Murray and Willis have already donated £200 from the proceeds of a raffle at their 21st Birthday celebrations.

The Hawthorns Centre in Burton caters for children with learning difficulties and they are hoping to buy a property in the Peak District that can be converted to use as a holiday home so that the children can have a break from their day to day routine. Steve managed the recent refurbishment works of the centre, on behalf of Murray & Willis, and he was particularly touched by the service users of the facility.

Cherish Uganda are based in Entebbe in Uganda and they take in and look after orphans with HIV/AIDS and they are trying to purchase some more chickens so that they can be more self sufficient. To find out more information about Cherish Uganda please go to www.cherishuganda.org Steve and his family visited Cherish Uganda in 2010 to help with the building of another classroom within the on site school.

If you would like to sponsor Steve please contact him on 01543 426811.
