Extreme Warrior Charity Fund Raiser

Murray & Willis have chosen and committed to Katharine House Hospice as our “Charity of the Year”.

We wanted to not only help a local charity but to create and inspire all work colleagues to work together as a team for a good cause.

18 participants are taking part in the Extreme Warrior on the 23rd March 2019, which is an epic obstacle event that will get us climbing, crawling, swinging and sliding our way to raise valuable funds for the patients of Katharine House Hospice.

We WILL get wet…we WILL get dirty…but we WILL have fun too!

Extreme Warrior will be a challenge but raising money for such a worthy charity will drive us all over the finish line.

Katharine House provides free hospice care services in Mid Staffordshire for people faced with an illness that cannot be cured. Our aim is to enable our patients and those close to them to live as fully as possible and make the most of the time that’s left.

You can help us raise money for this great charity by donating directly to our fundraising page –

Football Sponsorship… From Team Coach

” I am really grateful to Murray and Willis for their support this season. They have kindly sponsored both a playing kit and a training kit together with rain tops and track suit trousers for the whole squad. As a result the boys turn out looking and feeling really good and feeling part of a well run and coordinated unit.

From a football perspective the 2009/2010 season has been a great success. Playing a year above them and at 11-a-side for the first time the boys have played some wonderful football throughout. Importantly also they have played fairly and with a great deal of respect. In the end they lost only one league game all season and finished as runners-up in the league only losing out on goal difference despite conceding the lowest number of goals. The team also made it through to the League Cup Semi-finals beating

teams a year older than themselves throughout the competition. Although they lost in the first round of the South Staffs Cup they did so against older opposition and only 2-1 after extra time. Most of their games including friendlies have been against older opposition and they have acquitted themselves admirably and gained many plaudits from all over including professional clubs who continue to monitor their progress.

All in all the boys in the team are a great credit to themselves, their parents and their club. It has been a fantastic start to 11-a-side and a stunning transition from mini football where they also enjoyed great success. We are grateful to Murray and Willis for their support and in helping us all turn out looking good and feeling great in our team colours both for games and training as well.”

Entering his first major tournament in this the UK Champs held in Liverpool representing the club along with various other club members competing he entered 3 categories Forms, Techniques and Sparring for his age group and rank. The competitor’s standard was very high across the board and people as far afield as Holland competed in the group. We have recently completed a successful project for Loomis UK Ltd at one of their distribution centers.

The project involved creating an internal counting house on the first floor, reception area, rest room and secure lobbies on the ground floor. A new lift has also been installed to transport goods to the counting house via the reception area.

The project also involved the installation of new heating, ventilation, electrical work and fire alarm system. We also had to co-ordinate closely with the clients’ security and data contractor.

During the contract period a complex changeover was achieved requiring a complete power shutdown, our electrical contractor planned extensively to achieve this in a minimal period of time which turned out to be successful to the complete satisfaction of the client.

The project duration was originally nine weeks. During the early stages of the project the client chose to install a new mezzanine floor to create five additional offices. This additional work extended the project by a further eight weeks.

Due to the sensitive nature of the clients business all operatives, design team and site visitors had to undergo a rigorous vetting procedure before any works could commence on site. This involved extensive work for our administration department liaising closely with the clients’ security vetting staff.

The client was extremely pleased with the result of this project.

Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek… In Aid Of: Hawthorn Crescent – League of Friends & Cherish Uganda

Steve Sutton has recently returned from The Himalayas where he managed to reach the top of Kala Pattar at 5550M. The trek started with an early morning light aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Lukla.

From here onwards it was a 100 mile walk to base camp and back to Lukla, passing through high mountain villages. The highlight of the trek for Steve was on the 9th day from Labouche (4900M) to Kala Pattar (5550M).

We started out at 3am and the crystal clear moonless sky was awash with billions upon billions of stars. The only visible light came from the head torches that we were all wearing and there wasn’t a single sound to break the silence apart from one of our guides Buddhist chanting. After breakfast at 6am at Gorak Shep (5100M) we made the final push to the top of Kala Pattar” Steve said.

Throughout the year Steve has raised funds for Hawthorns Resource Centre in Burton upon Trent & for Cherish Uganda, so far raising £1000 by auctioning off items that have very kindly been donated by local companies along with selling items at a local car boot sale.

Murray and Willis have already donated £200 from the proceeds of a raffle at their 21st Birthday celebrations.

The Hawthorns Centre in Burton caters for children with learning difficulties and they are hoping to buy a property in the Peak District that can be converted to use as a holiday home so that the children can have a break from their day to day routine. Steve managed the recent refurbishment works of the centre, on behalf of Murray & Willis, and he was particularly touched by the service users of the facility.

Cherish Uganda are based in Entebbe in Uganda and they take in and look after orphans with HIV/AIDS and they are trying to purchase some more chickens so that they can be more self sufficient. To find out more information about Cherish Uganda please go to Steve and his family visited Cherish Uganda in 2010 to help with the building of another classroom within the on site school.

If you would like to sponsor Steve please contact him on 01543 426811.
