Testimonials

Murray and Willis have completed a 4 week fit out of a new purpose built trading unit in Godmanchester for Central England Co-Operative, these works included all back of house offices, store colleague area, toilets, prep room, and also work to sales floor area, including feature ceiling, resin floor and decoration throughout the store, all of these works were completed to a high standard.

They were able to react to changes and challenges that were brought before them, and offered value engineering solutions.

The project and all onsite contractors were managed to a high standard and was delivered to programme, on time and on budget, and was handed over to the retail team to prepare the store for launch and all its future customers.

I would like to thank David Marson and his Site Manager for a job well done.

Robin Tutt, Project Consultant, Mistral Technical Services

I would like to formally pass on my thanks and feedback regarding the EOTF conversion completed at my store 1175 by Murray and Willis.

I consider the project has been a huge success and has run very smoothly from start to finish. The restaurant was handed over ahead of time and with only a small number of snags which had no impact on the customer. There is a clear plan in place and follow up meeting to complete the final works.

The Murray and Willis team have been incredible and very accommodating throughout – keeping me fully informed at every stage and allowing me reasonable access to the site for inspection when requested. The site was very organised throughout the closure and the feedback from the adjoining barbers has been very positive.

The quality of the workmanship was to a very good standard and everyone on site worked really hard. It was clear to me that everyone on site was working well together and the programme of works was well project managed and coordinated. Health and Safety was clearly a priority throughout the project as well – which was good to see.

The team (Steve, Mike, Suzi, Adrian and Ed) have been very professional throughout the project and have communicated well with me at every stage.

I have been very pleased with the EOTF conversion and I enjoyed working with the Murray and Willis team. I would also recommend Murray and Willis to other operators and would be happy to work with the team on future projects.

Please pass on my thanks and comments with the entire team.

Thank you and best wishes,

David Knight, Managing Director, Aberrant Group Ltd. Trading as McDonald’s

I wish to formally pass on my sincere thanks in recognising the achievements of your on-site team recently conducting works at our new Central England Co-operative Funeral Care Centre in Chilwell, Nottingham.

The Funeral home opened today after a 6 week fit out by Murray and Willis lead by David Marson.

The commitment of the team to deliver a ready-to-trade home to a very high standard overcoming numerous unplanned obstacles including adverse weather, has been exemplary.

It’s all too often in this industry that we berate the contractor when things aren’t quite right, however I wish to sincerely thank David and his team for going the extra mile when needed, and look forward to working on more projects later this year with Murray & Willis.

Rowland Woolley, Property Project Delivery Manager, Central England Co-operative Ltd.

This is the first time that I have worked with Murray & Willis and overall I would recommend them for projects of this nature. The project involved a full refurbishment of all guest areas whilst the hotel was fully operational. Murray & Willis worked very closely with the hotel staff and Client direct suppliers to ensure displacements, disruption and guest complaints were minimised. This sometimes extended to minor adjustments to the phasing plans to the agreement and benefit of all parties.

Overall, Murray & Willis were focussed on getting the job done to the satisfaction of all concerned and did not focus on blame or contractual issues. They were forward looking, suggesting viable alternatives to problems that arose on site. This extended to negotiating final costs which were agreed in a relatively short time period.

Regarding the correction of defects, these have been attended to in a timely manner, whilst working closely with the hotel to minimise any disruption.

In summary, I found the team at Murray & Willis to be pro-active, friendly and easy to work with, including their senior management team. I would recommend them for inclusion on any tender/negotiation shortlist for projects of this nature and would gladly work with them again in the future.

Richard J Wibberley, Senior Project Manager, WT Partnership, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Leeds

Murray and Willis Ltd carried out extensive alterations to an existing office building to accommodate additional staff in an open plan environment. The project involved working outside office hours to ensure limited disruption to the current occupants over a period of around 2 months.

All the team members I encountered were extremely professional and helpful and the work was carried out to a very high standard. They showed great flexibility in terms of changes during and after the project. They caused very little disruption to operations and were always very quick to respond to any issues raised.

All occupants of the new space were very pleased with the result and we have had many others trying to move into the new space!

Ruth Hallam, Chief of Staff, Office of the President & Principal, King’s College London

The recent refurbishment of the 5th Floor of the James Clerk Maxwell Building for King’s College London, has provided another example of Murray and Willis Ltd ability to deliver outstanding results for clients, at an agreed cost, whilst complying with all relevant standards.

I would have no hesitation in recommending them for similar projects to other clients.

As you can appreciate any refurbishment of a busy hotel has the potential to be a real nightmare but I feel motivated to send you positive feedback in relation to the work your team have completed over the last 6 weeks.

The professionalism combined with the positive attitude, good humour and the understanding that we where still running a busy hotel was very much appreciated and refreshlingly different from other recent experiences we have had with contractors.

Chris Hill, Regional General Manager, Aztec Hotel and Spa Bristol

Murray & Willis have been involved in extensive refurbishment works here at The Stafford London 5* Hotel by Kempinski over the past several years, including the redecoration of the entire public areas within the main hotel. They produce an excellent quality finish.

A big thank to Roger, Richard and the team at M & W

Andy Stone, Senior Project Manager, University of Birmingham

Murray and Willis delivered, as ever, a quality project, snag free, on time, in the most demanding of circumstances.

Well done, the branch staff were extremely delighted.

Ben Dean, Project Management for Edmond Shipway LLP

Murray & Willis were selected to carry out the refurbishment of Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery, a Grade II listed building. The work included the restoration of the main public areas, preparation of exhibition galleries, major structural works; complete replacement of the heating system and associated power/lighting installations.

The works were completed within the allotted four month window allowing the return of the collections to start as planned, despite the addition of unforeseen structural & cabling work.

It was refreshing to work with a building contractor that quietly got on with the job even though design changes had to be made. The quality of their work was to the highest standard resulting in a restored building that the client team are delighted with.

I have no hesitation in recommending Murray & Willis to your organisation.

Ron Watson, Head of Project Management, Haley Sharpe Design Ltd

Just a quick note to thank you and all your teams efforts in completing the Cottons project on time and to your usual high standard (despite our best efforts to delay you!). The success of the job is in no small way due to your commitment, enthusiasm and eagerness to please. Once again it has been a pleasure working with you and we look forward to more projects in the future.

Could you also please pass on our appreciation to Pete – another key member of your team.

Steve Shaw, Company Property & Development Manager

This looks fantastic, top marks to Vincent, make sure we get quotes from these again.

Clive Witley, Premises Manager, Hamptons International Estate Agents

Murray & Willis proved to be very professional – as we knew they would be – bringing a ‘can-do’philosophy to a very limited time frame. Needless to say, the Guildford branch was handed over to us and opened on time.

Jonathon Morris, Senior Projects Manager at HSBC

We always use Murray & Willis for major refurbishment work. They are a very professional team and a pleasure to have around the place. A trademark of their work is cleanliness and tidiness which, as one of the premier hotels in Derbyshire, is very important to us, with guests invariably around. Just as importantly, Murray & Willis can always be relied upon to complete their projects on time.

David Hardman, proprietor, East Lodge Hotel, Rowsley, Matlock, Derbyshire

As an award-winning four-star hotel group with a great reputation for attention to quality and detail, Shire Hotels relies on contractors to deliver to the very highest standards. We choose to work with Murray & Willis as they meet deadlines, understand the challenges and have a team who work closely with our own in-house resource to ensure results that are exactly to the agreed specification.

Steve Shaw, Company Property & Development Manager, Shire Hotels Limited, Blackburn

Would you please pass on my thanks to everyone involved with these two projects. Queen Street looks wonderful and was completed on schedule, despite the initial problem we had with the strong-room. Churchill Way is superb.

The launch of the branch (including the mezzanine) was due on 27th November, but was ready on 6th November, three weeks early. The whole project took less than six weeks from beginning to end. This was all despite the initial concerns we had, having to make last minute design changes to accommodate the low beams and to bring the roof of the extension up to our required security standards.

What was particularly amazing was the tiny number of snags on both schemes: this is definitely the ‘A’ team!
