the
project

As part of our ongoing strategic business development, we have over the past few years targeted the restaurant sector and have been successful in securing projects for the Argentinian brands CAU and GAUCHO.

Henley-on-Thames was the first of our CAU restaurant projects; the opportunity was gained following a successful project at GAUCHO’s flagship restaurant in London. This has been followed in rapid succession by many other new CAU restaurant fit-outs.

The Henley projects scope of works began with completely stripping an existing unit back to an empty shell and then the twelve week programme began in earnest. We began carrying out some complex structural alterations to suit the new layout, whilst simultaneously working on the landlord’s property above to carryout repairs to historic issues that needed to be addressed.

The access to this project was challenging as we could only receive deliveries through the front door. We overcame these problems by liaising with the local council and police. We arranged for all deliveries to be taken at allocated time slots, as there was no parking allowed outside the unit.

As well as stripping out and refitting the restaurant to the clients exacting standards, we installed a new shop-front and also transformed the two basement areas to utilise the space that was previously only used for storage. One of the areas was made into a liquor store which helped to free up space in the main restaurant. The other basement was converted into bespoke cold rooms.

This was a very challenging project to say the least as we were required to co-ordinate the installation of not only an upgrade to the water mains, but also a brand new gas and electrical mains, all whilst the restaurant was transformed into a CAU. We had to liaise with the local authorities throughout this process to ensure that there was minimal disruption to the area as the restaurant is situated on the main road that runs through Henley.

The quality finishes were carried out by our highly skilled in-house team and included resin flake effect flooring throughout, Muraspec wall coverings, specialist wall and ceiling features and installation of bespoke furniture.
